I love it when I find a DIY project that truly looks like it can be sold in a store. I live and breathe kids' crafts on a daily basis, so it is so refreshing to see something so polished, stylish, and useful.

Have you ever found yourself on a street corner or in a car trying desperately to refold a map, bending it this way, then that, accordian folding, then just shoving it closed? And days later, you end up with a hole in the center on the seam. Nice.
This map is the best invention ever! All you do is crumple/shove/stuff it in your bag or pocket and keep moving. It looks like its made from Tyvek-like material. Oh yeah, and it's totally waterproof.

How cute and easy is this? Sawing the heads off of plastic animals might be a bit distrurbing, but the end result would be adorable in any kids' bedroom or playroom! Found via Ohdeedoh.
I'm totally amazed at the cool effect this produces...Recyclart featured these basic jars striped with vintage zippers (I've been wondering what I could do with all of mine :). The repetitive texture makes for a unique surface; it almost looks like a gorgeous woven textile for a split second. To be honest, I've never explored the creative applications of zippers...now I'm intrigued...

At my wedding, we used a vintage wooden crate as a "flip book" of old photos of me and Michael. It had a playful flea market feel.

As I'm thinking about moving into my new apartment (today—woot!) I'm trying to figure out how I am going to solve the ever-consuming problem of organizing my craft supplies. It's daunting, really, so this blog post is a very self-serving one.
If you are a crafter, you know that it's painful to throw out a 3x3-inch piece of paper. I love this idea from The Crafts Dept.—store your scraps in presentation sleeves by color.
Oh to have such a manageable collection of materials! If only I had 10 sheets of scrapbook paper, 4 pairs of scissors, or four spools of twine, only then could my craft space look like this. But this photo does display one of my fave storage ideas...the jars mounted underneath a shelf. Found on Ohdeedoh.
Chez Larsson came up with this precious way to store materials. She took photos of her materials and decoupaged the print-outs to wooden Ikea drawers.
